Rama Navami is celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Rama, an avatar of Lord Sri Krishna. The purpose of Sri Ram’s birth was to defeat the evil spirit of Ravana. Rama Navami is celebrated on the 9th day of Chaitra Navaratri which usually falls in the months of March and April, by devotional worships keertans, Fasting, reciting Ramayana – the tale of Rama, charity work and annadhanam. This is celebrated to commemorate the victory of good over evil and to establish Dharma and to defeat adharma.
