Golokam is more than just an ashram; it is a sanctuary where individuals can connect with their spiritual selves, find solace in the teachings of Lord Krishna, and experience the joy of selfless service.
Guru Purnima is also called Vyasa Purnima, the appearance day of Veda Vyasa, an incarnation of Sri Krishna. Veda Vyasa compiled the wealth of all Vedic scriptures; he is the original guru which is why Guru Purnima is celebrated on his birthday. It is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Ashadha, Jun- July to offer respect to all spiritual and academic Gurus. A guru is the dispeller of darkness or ignorance. On this day disciples gather in the ashram to meet and/or worship Guru, do Keertans and padapuja, worshiping the Holi feet.
